A few years back, I was looking at buying an under-performing
business.  I had negotiated enough with the owner of the business to
feel he wasn’t bargaining “in good faith.”  I hadn’t talked to him for
awhile, and I called him one day to see if he’d come to his senses, and
he announced, “Oh, I sold that business last month to old Bob Smith
(not his real name.)  Yeah,” he continued, “He paid way more for that
business than he should have.”

I’m glad he wasn’t telling everyone in town it was me who’d paid way more for it than it was worth!!

But here’s the dilemma.  Is it wrong / dishonest / immoral / etc. to
sell something for more than it’s worth?  I know there are many who
would say it’s worth whatever someone would pay for it.  Therefore, you
should get all you can.  I know there are others who say that to
consider yourself honest, you must seek a win-win situation, and not
take undue advantage of anyone else.  I have strong feelings on this
one, but before I share them I’d like to hear what you think.
