Considering the current state of our economy and all the negativity in the press, it’s no wonder we are starting to feel the doom and gloom around us.  But in fact, as we go into this Thanksgiving holiday weekend, I think we have to seperate ourselves from everything that is going on around us today and take a broader view.  We still enjoy the highest standard of living in the world.  We still enjoy a level of freedom unequalled in the world.   We still enjoy the most successful (though far from perfect) political system on the planet.  We still have the best educational system.  The vast majority have food to eat, a home to live in, cars to drive and sufficient means to go from day to day.  Yes, of course there is a small percentage of the population who needs help — and we should absolutely be there to lift them — but by and large we have much as a people and as individuals to be thankful for.

I hope on this holiday weekend that we all express thanks to whatever God we pray to for the bounties we enjoy.  However difficult things might be right now, they’re still head and shoulders above what the rest of the world struggles with.

See you next weeek!
