A.J. Proctor sent me this one. I haven’t verified that it really came from the St. Petersburg Times, but even if it didn’t, it makes you take a step back and think. Even if you doubled the offer, it wouldn’t cost one-tenth of what we just spent and it would have an amazingly bigger impact on the economy. Anyway, read it and see what you think.
This was an article from the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on
“How Would You Fix the Economy?” I thought this was the BEST idea….I think this guy nailed it!Dear Mr.President,
Patriotic retirement:
There’s about 40 million people over 50 in the work
force-pay them $1 million apiece severance with stipulations. They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.
They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered
Auto Industry fixed..They either buy a house/pay off their mortgage -
Housing Crisis fixed.

1I think this is a phenomenal idea. It amazes me how the simple answers are always over looked. I do wonder, however, if this would be able to be forced on those who work on Capitol Hill?
It would be a refreshing new start!

2This idea really got me thinking. I agree with Jordan. I think our government often times complicates things by trying to find a solution that is supposed to fix 100 things all at once, when there are only a few crucial things that really need to be fixed. If we fix what is most important first, I think we’ll find that the solutions can be as simple as this.

3Only one little problem.
40,000,000 x 1,000,000 = 40,000,000,000,000.
That’s $40 trillion dollars.

4There’s always got to be someone with a calculator to spoil the fun. But hey, who knows. The way things are going in Washington right now, I wouldn’t take this idea off the table. It’s not that far removed from what they’re already doing.
